Designated For Assignment: Round 1

As I mentioned in last night's Round-Up, I'm going to finally take the grown-up step of clearing out some singles of players who I don't collect or care for that much, or who, in some cases, I already have as part of complete sets. What I didn't mention last night is that I'd be launching this with 11 names! I don't know if I'll do this every time, but I wanted to get a running start here.

So, without any further ado, here are the players who are Designated For Assignment:

Roberto Alomar

Moises Alou

Don Baylor

George Bell

Adrian Beltre

Lance Berkman

Barry Bonds

Bobby Bonilla

Bret Boone

Ryan Braun

Pat Burrell

How This Works:

When I name players who are Designated For Assignment, you can "claim" them as part of a future trade. This will be done on a first-come, first-served, though any unwanted cards will be passed down to the next interested party, so feel free to name players you'd be interested in even if they've been claimed already. To claim a player or multiple players, leave me a comment with the name(s) of the player(s) in question, and an email address that I can reach you at.

Once a player's been claimed, I'll get in touch with the interested party with a list of what's available, and they can pick through it from there. If there's stuff the first interested party doesn't want of a particular claimed player, those items will be offered to the next person in line on the list.

In a similar, if inverse vein to the Player Of The Month program, I will dish out the cards of the DFA'ed players in trades at a rough rate of 2 cards to 1 item from my want list, or, if you want to really cash in, 4 cards to 1 Player Of The Month item that I need.

Cards of unclaimed players will either get added to the trade list when I get around to it, or I'll do something more creative with them. I could donate them somewhere, I could throw them all in a box and have an annual unwanted card raffle, or I could take up cigar smoking and light my cigars with them. This is yet to be determined.

There are probably other details to iron out, but we'll iron those out as we come to them. For now, let the bottom-feeding begin!

  2. That is a great idea. I know there is a Braun collector...Cam over at Cardboard Heaven.

  3. My spare Brauns just got ganked in a deal, actually. Wasn't a lot there, but it made a trade happen. Thanks for the pointer, though, may come in handy in the future.

I'll probably be doing Round 2 of this in the next week or two.
