Yep, still alive, and going to White Plains this weekend...

The questions are: which day(s), and who else is going?

Ted, you still thinking of heading down? Any other locals or semi-locals?

For those wondering which autograph guests will be there on which days along with prices and other info, look here. Denny McLain's free on Saturday, Tracy Stallard (gave up Roger Maris' 61st HR 50 years to the day) and Jack Fisher (gave up HR #60 to Maris) will be there signing autos for cash, as will the Jets' "New York Sack Exchange" (Gastineau, Lyons, Klecko and Salaam) and a handful of '50s Yankees (A.J.?).

Sunday is Gene Michael for free, Frank Howard, Jimmy Piersall, Jack Morris (should make the HOF, possibly along with Barry Larkin in the next vote), Ed Figueroa, Felix Millan and Ron Hunt are the paid autos.

Better paid autos on Sunday in my view, better free one on Saturday (no diss on Stick). Hate when that happens!

Anyone got a preference for a meetup, assuming folks are going?

  1. Nice, thanks for thinking of me. Wish I could make it out there. I do have that 1957 Topps Tommy Carroll card, although not sure I'd shell out the $20. If you'd like the card, let me know!

  2. Not a problem, A.J., but I'm good on the Tommy Carroll. I'm already trying to figure out what my auto budget's gonna be like if I go Sunday, just in players I'm familiar with and like (Howard, Piersall, Figueroa; thankfully, I got Jack Morris for free over the summer).

  3. Somehow I don't think Denny McLain's going to be there

  4. Aw, crap. Well, with Denny, anything's possible. He posted bail, and his extradition hearing isn't until Tuesday! What better time to cross state lines to raise some cash?

  5. This just in from the White Plains people: they spoke to Denny, and he is still claiming that he'll be there. All kidding aside earlier, I'm really not sure how that works, what with him having to cross a state line after posting bail and before his extradition hearing, but according to them, he's still a go for Saturday.

  6. Unfortunately I will not be attending this one. Work is taking over the weekend and I have to take what I can get, you know? When are they held in White Plains? Is it monthly or what? Let me know and maybe I can make it to the next one.

  7. Ted: next one's Thanksgiving weekend. As I'm trying to get tickets to see The Cure that weekend, my schedule's all up in the air right now. I'll keep you (and everyone else) posted.

  8. Nice! That should be a good show. I hear they're great live. I like The Cure but I live their early stuff, everything from Head on the Door and back to the beginning.

  9. Alas, probably not happening if the prices I'm hearing for tickets ($160 for the cheap seats, up to $500; to put it in perspective, I saw Dio at the Beacon in '94 for like $20, and I think the most I've ever paid to see The Cure was $50) end up sticking, so the Thanksgiving show could happen. I'll keep you posted, and you do the same.
