Hey, look, a trade post!

I can be really slack about doing trade posts. Like, bad to the point where I feel severely guilty about it. Sometimes, stuff all floods in at once and I lose track of who sent what, or my need to put things away overrides my need to write the posts about the things or that sort of thing. Sorry, people I trade with. I do appreciate the deals, I'm just nuts.

However, Stephan seems to literally go through hell to get deals done, particularly with me (he had the last trade package he sent me sent back something like 2 or 3 times because his post office is crazy, and this one went back once, too, before he sent it from another post office), so when stuff arrived, I said "Goddamn it, the Internet's gonna hear about this!", and here we are.

Ken Phelps, you beautiful bastard, you. I wish it'd worked out when you were in The Bronx, but your pre-New York HR/AB numbers were just a cruel tease.

Right below Kenny's card were these...

Yep, that's a healthy stack of '72 Topps, all but 11 of which I needed (wires crossed since White Plains, but I'll never be unhappy about getting extra '72s). I'm down to 102 left to finish the set. I'm also only 20 away from finishing '71. I need 188 to finish '73. While I don't want to make that any harder than it already is, can we all admit that '73's a harder set to finish than people say it is? I'm almost positive I'll finish '71 before '73, and '72 is actually within reach, even with the scary high numbers (82 of which I still need) involved.

Here are a few highlights...

Tommy friggin' John! Badly off-center, but with these earlier sets, I'm just looking to get in the building. I've got the rest of my life to decide whether or not to "upgrade".

I can't be missing many of his base Topps cards at this point. Let's see...

'65 208, '66 486, '67 609 and I'm done. First solo card and 2 high-ish numbers. Oh, great.

Moving on...

Ken Singleton, young badass. Young, slightly water damaged badass, but again, just happy to be here. I've found myself missing Kenny's broadcasting since, well, I don't watch many Yankee games anymore. Noticed it during Mariano's last game. He's the only thing that kept Michael Kay from being impossible to endure that night. He was also always a welcome presence in my packs of cards as a kid, one of those players who I saw in the cards and, without knowing much about them,  I thought "Hey, I like that guy." (Of course, Dave Kingman was one, too, and, well, he's Dave Kingman, so it gets weird...)

NIIIIIICE

High number Milner rookie! Nice lookin' card, too, conditionwise.

I don't know how this card isn't more infamous and downright hated, particularly among Mets fans. Is it because it's a high number? Is it because Nolan Ryan's card doesn't have that big, fat "TRADED" stamped on the front? I can picture this card being ritually burned by Mets fans.

Not this one, though! How can you not love Jose Cardenal?

Stephan also threw in a small handful of '89 Topps UK minis (which I'll eventually either build or buy a set of), a Cowboys/Tony Romo mini-Bipping, which we shall not speak of any further, and speaking of such thing, this card rounded out the package...

As it was our hero's birthday on Sunday, I shot him a message...

I also heard from Billy Idol today, but that's another story. No, I didn't introduce Billy to Bip on Twitter. YET.

Anyway, thanks to Stephan for another deal, especially in light of what a pain in the ass deals with me seem to be for you!

TRADE FREEZE!

OK, folks, it's that time.

I was just looking through my inbox, matching it up with what was in my "INCOMING!" file, and I realized that there are too many goddamn trades in progress. One might be completed, and I'm not sure, because the pile of cards on my desk got too crazy for me to tell. There's a couple of Kyle Okposo cards that could be ANYWHERE right now!

So, yesterday, I flipped out and put all of those cards in 660 boxes I had earmarked for complete or near-complete sets (I used 5 to clear my desk off. Yes, about 3000 cards, since they weren't all full.)

I just finished going through my inbox again, matched everything up with what was in "INCOMING!", and as of right now, there is a freeze on all new trades in full effect, unless there's an emergency where someone offers me the entire '98 Donruss Crusade set, all 3 colors, for an '88 Topps Ed Hearn card or something, That'd actually be funny, because I'm not sure if I have a spare '88 Topps Ed Hearn. WOULD I DARE BREAK AN '88 TOPPS SET?!?!?!

Anyway, yeah, do me a favor if you're a regular reader and/or involved in a trade or similar transaction but one that involves swapping filthy American dollars instead of cards with me: go look at "INCOMING!", and either in comments here, via email or on the Twittahs, as dayf likes to call 'em, let me know where we're at on any potential deal, if you actually do know. Some of this is being held up by me, so if you don't have an answer because of that, that's totally OK. Just let me know if you're still interested in finishing a deal here, and I'll get to work on it.

The goal here is to finish all the trades evar by the end of '13.

And, again, there will be NO MORE TRADES EVAR until the stuff on "INCOMING!" is cleared.

Let's get some shit done, put some cards in good homes, maybe make my house a better home for some cards, and find out where the hell poor Kyle Okposo is.

Who's with me?

I wish there were a quicker way to post about ALL THE THINGS

So much cool stuff I want to talk about and show you. Only so many hours in a day.

There are far worse problems to have.

I know, I have a few of those, too.

In the meantime, let's just leave this Minnie Minoso relic here as a placeholder. Gonna try to make it up to White Plains tomorrow morning and get it violated with Minnie's signature, too!

Lots more coming soon. Lots of trades to wrap up, too! Stay tuned!
